Dan Rogers (b. 1978) is a Northern California-based oil painter who changed careers after 25 years in software engineering to pursue fine art. Based in Petaluma, he studied for two years with the late Camille Przewodek, a world-renowned painter and colorist trained by Henry Hensche. Her mentorship profoundly shaped his understanding of color and how to observe light in nature.
Dan works both outdoors from life and in the studio, using a combination of plein air studies and photography to develop his paintings. He focuses on the varied landscapes of Sonoma County and the western United States, blending impressionist color with realist structure. His paintings aim to evoke the experience and memory of place—how light, form, and atmosphere come together in a specific moment.
